Oswego Buccaneers


Brian Akley graduated from Oswego High School in 1983 where he was a five year starter on the wrestling team coached by his father, Elmer Akley (Section III Wrestling Hall of Fame inductee, Class of 1995).

During his senior year, Brian had a record of 36-0 and was the NYS Champion at 138 pounds. His career record in high school was 129-25-1 which included two league championships, a four-time Class A Champion and a two-time Section III Champion. Brian continued his wrestling career at St. Lawrence University where he was a four-year starter and two-time NCAA qualifier.

Upon graduation, Brian worked for the NYS Assembly and the Assembly Campaign Committee. In 1996, Brian began working for the NYS Department of Economic Development, with responsibilities for the world re-known "I Love NY" campaign. After leaving state service, Brian utilized his network of economic development specialist and entered the Construction industry as a Business Development Manager. Brian recently took a position as Senior Business Development Manager with Gilbane Building Company where his new territory is all of Upstate New York. Brian lives in Loudonville, NY with his wife, Marisa and their two children, Ella (7) and Brayden (5).
