I attended Watertown High School and Graduated in 1970.

2 years later I married my high school sweetheart, Sharon and had two boys, Kristopher and Brandon. On a side note, Brandon was a state champion in Vermont.

I went to work at Altria Corporation for 34 years, started in sales and finished in Marketing. I relocated with Altria several times ending back in central NY.

I started my wrestling career in 8th grade. The coach was David Oneal.

I then moved up to Junior Varsity in 9th grade wrestling for Ron Rock who later moved on to North Syracuse.

I moved up to varsity my sophomore year and started as the heavyweight. I finished out that year winning section 3 and took 3rd at States.

My Junior year, I won section 3 and took 2nd in the states.

My senior year, I went undefeated and won the States at Unlimited with a 28-0 record. A great deal of wins for that era.

I coached at South Jefferson for a few years in the junior program. I loved working with young wrestlers.

My coach in my final 3 years was Robert Ridall. My final 3 years, We never lost a team match. To this day, I still call him coach, a name earned through respect. He taught me some skills that have followed me throughout my career and life. Those include leadership, commitment, sacrifice and accountability. Our relationship to this day is one of love and respect.

The sport of wrestling taught me so much about life itself. I have often believed that success in wrestling is directly equivalent to how hard you worked in practice. "The love for the pain" was one of several lines given by coach Ridall. Success is often related to the last 10 minutes of wrestling practice, not the 1st ten. The fraternity of wrestling will follow all of you for the rest of your life. I live in Florida now and I wouldn't define Florida as a wrestling area and yet I bump into fellow wrestlers every time I am out and about.
