Class of 2001

Jerry LaMonica has made wrestling a part of his life for more than 40 years. Jerry graduated from Frankfort-Schuyler High Shool in 1960. During his high school career, Jerry was instructed by Joe Campo. Coach Campo was one of the pre-eminent high school wrestling coaches in New York State.

In 1964, Jerry graduated from Oswego State University. To balance his academic career at Oswego State, Jerry was also a member of the wrestling team. During his collegiate career, Jerry was a two time State University Champion at both 115lb and 123lb.

Jerry began his teaching and coaching career at Whitesboro High Schol. Jerry taught at Whitesboro for 33 years and coached for 21 years (1964-1985). During his career, Jerry guided the Warriors to over 100 match victories and several league championships. Additionally, Jerry also coached two State Place Champions and over numberous Section III Finalists.

Outside his life of teaching and coaching at Whitesboro, Jerry was also the past president of the Central New York Wrestling League, was a member of the Section III Seeding Committee, and hosted countless Christmas and League Tournament meets.

On behalf of all of the schools in Section III, the boys wrestling committee proudly salutes Mr. Jerry LaMonica for his leadership, dedication, and vision.
