Mike Millich

Adirondack Wildcats
Mike Millich graduated from Carthage High School in 1972, where he lettered in football, basketball, and baseball. Mike went on to SUNY Cortland, lettering in football for four years and was captain his senior year.

Coach Millich student-taught at Lowville Academy, where he met Neal Aubel. At Lowville, he began his wrestling career that included one year of junior varsity at the school, three years of modified and twenty-one years as varsity head coach at Adirondack High School. Also, Mike coached football for twenty-four years and is currently Director of Athletics and a Physical Education teacher at Adirondack Central School.

Coach Millich's wrestling teams compiled a record of 231 wins and 76 losses, including an amazing thirty-three match win streak from 1984-85. The Wildcats won ten Intervalley League titles, five Center Valley Conference titles, and five Central New York League titles. In 1989, he guided Adirondack to a Class C Sectional Title. Two of his wrestlers, Brian Shoemaker and Jason Gleasman, won Section III Championships, with Gleasman winning a New York State Title and gaining a spot on the United States Olympic Greco-Roman team.

Throughout his teaching and coaching career, Mike Millich has touched many lives. His efforts in Physical Education have benefited local students into their adult lives. Coach Millich's commitment to the students at Adirondack, the local community, the coaching staff, and his family make him most deserving of this honor.
