Beaver River Beavers
While at Ithaca College, Wayne Ferguson captained the Bombers wrestling teams in 1971-72 and 1972-73. He was an ICAC wrestling champion and competed in two national championship tournaments.
After graduating from Ithaca College in 1973, Wayne Ferguson began his teaching and coaching career at Beaver River. Together with former Beaver River wrestler Steve Duffer as his assistant coach, they have led one of the most successful wrestling programs in Section III and New York State over the past 25 years. The Beaver River teams are perennially state-ranked and a regular participant in the Section III Duals. The Beavers always sport a winning record and have won over 100 team tournament titles.
Coach Ferguson teams are always well-coached in technique, strategy, sportsmanship, and fair play. Below is a list of team and individual highlights and accomplishments over Wayne Fergusons 33 year coaching career at Beaver River.

Coach Ferguson has guided 31 Section III Interclass Champions, 23 New York State Placewinners, 6 New York State Runners-up, 2 New York State Champions, and one high school All-American. Currently, 29 Beaver River Wrestlers have 100 or more career wins. Six Beaver River Wrestlers went on to achieve All-American status at the collegiate level.
