Robert Woodruff

Owen D. Young (VanHornesville)
Bob started wrestling at Van Hornesville (now Owen D. Young) in 1933. The first year they used church pew cushions for mats. The following year, they bought a 12x12 mat for their competition.

His teams wrestled teams from Norwich, Oxford, Whitesboro, Little Falls, and Richfield Springs. They also competed with freshman teams from Syracuse and St. Lawrence - Bob's Alma Mater.

Bob was Section III Chairman and the first state wrestling chairman.

He instituted the first Intersectional Tournament in 1963 at Cornell University under the direction of Oswego State Coach Jim Howard.

Bob was a teacher, coach, and administrator at Van Hornesville for 40 years, retiring in 1971.
