Austin Meys is the most decorated wrestler in Shenendehowa history.

Austin was a five time place winner in the New York State tournament and accumulated a career record of 263-8 for the Plainsmen. Meys won his first state title as an eighth grader at 103 and he won the state championship his junior (at 171) and senior (at 189) seasons.

Austin went undefeated his final two seasons, with a record of 45-0 as a senior with 42 victories by fall, the second most pins in the nation. He was named Outstanding Wrestler at the New York State tournament twice and was the third wrestler to win five Section 2 titles.

Meys also placed third and first at the Cadet Freestyle Nationals and ranked in the top 100 nationally and top 10 at his weight class by InterMat.

At Lehigh University, Austin made the NCAA tournament as a freshmen in 2010. Wrestling at 174 pounds he had a record of 21-10. But as the season progressed he began to feel ill and ended up missing a year and a half after being diagnosed with Guillain-Barre syndrome and lost feeling in his legs.

It took the Lehigh wrestler two years to get back to NCAA competition. But through hard work and against odds he made it back in the 2013-14 season as a 197 pounder finishing the season 2-2.

In 2015 the Friends of Section 2 awarded Austin Meys with the Jeff Blatnick Inspiration Award.
