Hudson Falls Tigers, Coach
George Chickanis, who retired in 2011, coached wrestling for 32 seasons -- 27 as the head coach of the Hudson Falls Tigers, after beginning his coaching career at Fonda-Fultonville. He amassed 338 dual-meet victories in his career and won 43 team titles at tournaments. His teams won eleven sectional classification championships; five Section 2, Division 2 team titles and two Foothills Council crowns.
Over his career, "Coach Chick" coached 26 Section 2 champions, 14 state place finishers, four finalists and one state champion -- 285-pounder Luke Albrecht in 2011.
Chickanis now serves as the Section 2 wrestling chairman and the New York State Wrestling Tournament site chairman.
