Gale Knull

Gale Knull was a wrestler, football player and Track athlete at Mont Pleasant High School in Schenectady.

In 1968 Gale was a Section 2 & NY State Champion, his season record was a perfect 27-0. He was coached by NYS Wrestling and Schenectady Hall of Fame Member Larry Mulvaney.

In addition to Gales success on the Wrestling mat he was also a star on the gridiron earning the 1967 Parade High School All American and Coaches & Athlete magazine All American in his Senior Year.

While at St. Lawrence University Gale was a 3 sport star, lettering in Football, Wrestling and Lacrosse. On the Wrestling mat Gale complied a 53-1 record and was the ICAC Champion.

He also won the St. Lawrence University discretion award as a senior for Wrestling. Continuing with Gales college accolades he was also the Team Captain and Outstanding player on the Football Team. In 1972 Gale Knull was named St. Lawrence University`s Outstanding Senior Athlete.

In 2007 Gale was inducted into the St. Lawrence University Hall of Fame and in 2019 Gale was inducted into the Schenectady High School Athletics Hall of Fame.

Gale Knull also served time as a coach in both the College and High School level. Gale served as the Freshmen Wrestling coach at St. Lawrence University. From 1972-1975 Gale was the Head Wrestling Coach at Union College in addition to coaching Football and Lacrosse at Union College as well. From 1975-1978 Gale was the Saratoga High School Head Wrestling Coach.
