Class of 2022

John has been a part of the Ravena-Coeymens-Selkirk Wrestling Program for over 35 years.

In 1981 Coach Vishneowski started with only 15 wrestlers in the program and no modified program.

In 14 Seasons John complied a record of 127-68 & 4 which included 8 straight seasons of over 10 wins (this is well before the modern times of dual meet tournaments we see today).

He also had 37 consecutive wins over a 5 year stretch and 3 Colonial Council Team Championships in addition to 4 Section 2 Champions.

Coach Vishneowski came out of coaching retirement to assist current coach Justin Schipano as JV Coach for 4 years. During this second stint of coaching, Vish`s teams won 3 Class CC Championships, 2 Class C titles, a 2016 Section 2 D2 Team Championship, 3 Section 2 Individual Champions and 2 NY State Qualifiers.

John served as an assistant Section 2 Wrestling Chairman under Marty Sherman & George Chickanis for 14 years.

Vish is currently the Section 2 Chairman, a position he has held the past 6 years. John also serves as a committee member for the NY State seeding and current auto qualifier system that is now in place with NYSPHSAA. In addition John has brought the state seeding system to Section 2 which is currently being used.

Lastly John was one of the Original members of the Friends of Section 2 Wrestling Board of Directors serving as vice president for several years. On a side note John`s daughter Kaitlyn designed the current Friends of Section 2 Wrestling Logo.
